Huskies Off To San Diego

Feb 24, 2021

Game Notes

SEATTLE - The non-conference season continues for the #5 Washington Huskies, who will play five games this weekend in San Diego. Washington will play three games against San Diego State and two against San Diego. That will include a doubleheader on Friday and on Sunday.

STRIKEOUT QUEEN
Gabbie Plain has struck out 24 of the last 32 batters she has faced and now has 59 strikeouts on the year. That total is second in the country, behind only Bowling Green's Payton Gottshall, who has thrown 10.1 more innings. Plain has struck out multiple batters in 13 of her last 14 innings. She has struck out double digits in each of her last three starts, the third time in her career she has struck out 10+ in three straight starts. Plain has never had four consecutive double-digit strikeout starts: the last Husky to do so was Taran Alvelo, who had five straight 10+ K starts in 2018.

KLINGLER KRUSHES IT
Baylee Klingler hit her fifth and sixth home runs of the year last weekend, surpassing her 2020 total. Klingler is now second in the Pac-12 and third in the nation in home runs. Her six homers are the most through ten games since Kirstyn Thomas hit seven in 2018. Klingler is currently on a pace for 32 home runs: the Husky single-season record is 25, accomplished by Kristen Rivera in 2003. This season, Klingler is averaging a home run every 5.3 at-bats: that is almost a full at-bat better than the single-season record of one homer per 6.05 at-bats, set by Kristen Rivera in 2005.

ALLCHIN, ALLBAT
Jadelyn Allchin finished last weekend with a career day, going 4-for-4 with two homers and six RBI. Allchin's six RBI were the most by a freshman or sophomore since Morganne Flores drove in seven on May 26, 2017. Allchin doubled her season RBI total in the game and had her first-ever multi-homer game. 28% of Allchin's career RBI and 33% of her career home runs came in that game.

POW POW POWER BATS
Washington has hit 24 home runs through ten games this season, just five less than they hit in all of 2020. Six different Huskies have hit multiple home runs. Jadelyn Allchin, Baylee Klingler, and Madison Huskey have all had multi-homer games. The last time Washington had more than three players with multi-homer games in the same year was 2016, when Ali Aguilar, Julia DePonte, Kimberlee Souza, and Taylor Van Zee did.

BREAKING OFF A NEW HUNDO
Sami Reynolds recorded her 100th career hit in her 89th game as a Husky last weekend. Reynolds is the fifth-fastest Husky to 100 career hits ever. Only Sis Bates, Ashley Charters, Dominique Lastrapes, and Jaime Clark have reached 100 hits faster than Reynolds. She has 11 multi-hit games since the start of 2020, a span of 33 games.

GETTING COMFORTABLE FAST
Lilly Agan moved into the starting lineup this weekend and has started hot, hitting .600 in her four starts. Agan has multiple hits in two of her first four collegiate starts and six hits total. The last Husky with more hits in their first four collegiate starts was Taylor Van Zee, who had seven hits. Sis Bates, Morganne Flores, and Jadelyn Allchin all also had six hits in their first four starts.

FLORES REACHING THE RECORD BOOK
Morganne Flores hit her 50th and 51st home runs last weekend, joining Kristen Rivera, Jaime Clark, Ali Aguilar, and Kylee Lahners as the only Huskies with 50 career home runs. Flores is ninth in the country among active players in career home runs.
