LAST TIME OUT
After nearly two years without competition, the track & field team finally got a chance to compete in the outdoor season on Feb. 13 at the UNLV Winter Challenge #1. That long layoff due to the 2020 season cancelled because of COVID-19 saw the Utes post a great showing with Whitney Hessler and Ruby Jane Mathewson winning the 1500m and 400m hurdles, respectively.

Brooke Manson and Annie Murdock finished in second and third for Utah in the 400m, with Manson clocking in at 57.48 while Murdock came in right behind her at 57.64. Freshman Bailey Kealamakia also took the podium for Utah in the 400m Hurdles, claiming third with a time of 1:04.21 in her first career 400m hurdles race. In addition, Utah also grabbed top-10 finishes in the 800m and 200m races.

UP NEXT
The track & field team will head back to Las Vegas for a second meet hosted by UNLV on Saturday, March 6, while the distance crew from cross country head up to the Pacific Northwest for the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships hosted at Chambers Bay Golf Course on Friday, March 5. The Utes had their best showing at the Pac-12 Championships last season, placing third thanks to Poppy Tanks, Bella Williams and Sarah Feeny finishing in the top-10.
