The Sun Devil men's basketball team took it to the wire against Washington Thursday but went on an 8-0 run to close out an 80-72 win in Tempe behind Remy Martin's 31 points and Kimani Lawrence's historic double-double with 21 points and 20 rebounds.

It was a tight game as the Sun Devils (9-11, 6-8) and Huskies (5-19, 4-15) traded blows as the game had eight ties and ten lead changes but with 58 seconds left in a tied game, senior guard Alonzo Verge Jr. iced two crucial free throws to put the Sun Devils up for good, securing a season series sweep of the Huskies. Verge Jr. finished with 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Remy Martin continued his dominant streak as he scored 31 points and shot 40% from the 3-point line. Martin's 31 points tie his season-high with his 31-point performance against Grand Canyon University. This was Martin's seventh career game scoring 30 or more with his career-high of 33 coming against Princeton in 2019.

BOBBY HURLEY QUOTES
"From our standpoint I think it goes without saying the star of the night was Kimani Lawrence, he was just unbelievable. Rebounding and scoring, making his free throws, [his] clutch free throws put us up [by] four [points], just an outstanding game. He was everywhere is all over the court so really proud of him and the way he's performed. When we've had all these guys out, he's really taken this game to a different place, and it's been very exciting and rewarding as a coach to watch him play at that level."

ON KIMANI'S CLUTCH FREE THROWS
"I have total confidence and if you've been paying attention, he's been really [good from the free throw line]. Against UCLA he was 8 for 10 from the line and made some clutch ones there, he's had some other games [where he made] some really clutch free throws, he's playing confident basketball, and we all are. This team has been a really fun team to coach the last two weeks."

ON ABSENCE OF JAELEN HOUSE
"He's a warrior if [he was healthy], he would have [played]. His back really tightened up on him later stages of our first Washington game, but especially two nights later after you have the impressive win that we had and a short turnaround and you're already down players, we're losing a guy that brings that defense, that fire, that communication, and all the energy he plays with. We'll hopefully get him back for Saturday, but yeah, no doubt that his presence was missed."

KIMANI LAWRENCE QUOTES
"I just been really aggressive, making a big point [to get] rebounds. I know we're missing some guys that usually help us contribute on the inside. The coaches are telling me that's what's going to keep me on the court, just being aggressive. "We're not giving up on our season. We just want a chance for us to play in the postseason. That's the goal. You just [have] to take it one game at a time, get some momentum going into [the Pac-12] tournament."

ON TEAM DEVELOPING AN INSIDE PRESENCE
"A lot of guys that can get to the rim and create for others. Playing inside out, the threes are going to come, and they came tonight."
