WSU SENDS FOUR TO NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Washington State track and field qualified four total student-athletes in five overall events to the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend, beginning Thursday, March 11, and will run through Saturday, March 14. Those selected from Washington State include Charisma Taylor (triple jump), Sam Brixey (60-meter hurdles), Zach Stallings (mile), and Colton Johnsen (3000m, 5000m). Currently the competition lists are still under review as scratches may occur from now through next week and updates will be provided accordingly. The University of Arkansas will host this year's indoor championships, and all events will be conducted within the Randal Tyson Track Center as well.

Throughout the indoor season these selected Cougars have been incredible during competitions, as all either set WSU records, posting top ten all-time marks, or securing wins every weekend. Taylor's dominance continued at the Matador Qualifier where she won the triple jump at 44-feet 1 1/2 inches (13.45m), setting a meet record in the process while competing at Texas Tech. Taylor was not done there however, winning the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.16, which was an all-time Washington State Track best, personal best, and another meet record as well.

Johnsen has turned in an impressive indoor season, as he wrapped up the regular season as the only male distance runner ranked in the top 12 in the nation in all three distance races. Colton posted the second-best time in WSU history in the mile at 3:57.39, to be placed just behind Cougar great Bernard Lagat in the record books. Stallings contributed to the WSU distance success in a big way as well this season, as he turned in the fifth best mile time in WSU history at 3:58.13 in the same meet as Johnsen. Both distance runners also made-up half of the distance medley relay team that recently posted the third best time in Washington State Track history at 9:36.49, along with teammates Justin Janke, and Ethan Willems. Brixey, who has now recorded back-to-back NCAA Indoor Championship selections, looks to run down the competition in the 60m hurdles, after posting three total wins during the regular season. Brixey most recently took home first prize at the Matador Qualifier with a time of 7.81 overall.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE COUGS
Husky Classic (Seattle)
Colton Johnsen continued his dominate ways this indoor season, taking home the victory in the 3000 with a personal best of 7:53.18. Johnsen posted the 10th best time in the nation Friday evening, and is now the only male distance runner in the top 12 in the nation in all three distance races.
