SEATTLE – The #22 Washington Huskies came out on the wrong end of a tight game, falling 1-0 to the #21 Stanford Cardinal. It was the first loss of the season for the Huskies, who had begun the year undefeated in their first six games. Washington is now 4-1-2 overall.

The game was scoreless until the 79th minute, when Stanford managed to score the game's only goal. Even so, Washington outshot the Cardinal 6-4 in a defensive battle. Stanford's goal was their only shot of the second half as Washington continually forced turnovers and kept the Cardinal away from any dangerous areas.

After taking home Pac-12 Keeper of the Week honors last week, Olivia Sekany was again excellent in goal, making two saves. She has not allowed multiple goals in a game all season long and has only given up three total goals in seven games.

Ameera Hussen and Ruby Hellstrom led the way offensively with two shots each. Summer Yates and Karlee Stueckle also had shots in the game. Yates' shot beat the keeper but rang off the crossbar in the first half.

SCORING
  • 79' | Stanford's Catherine Paulson had the game's only goal, with Madison Haley earning the assist.

NOTES
  • Hellstrom had her three-game point streak come to an end.
  • Hussen has recorded multiple shots in every game this year.
  • Stueckle has matched her 2019 shot total in 14 fewer games.
  • MaKayla Woods played 50+ minutes for the third time in the last four games.
