Huskies Head East For One Game At Utah
SEATTLE - Fresh off a win in the Boeing Apple Cup Series last week, the Washington Huskies hit the road for one Pac-12 contest this week, facing off with Utah in Salt Lake City. This will be Washington's second Pac-12 road trip of the year. The Huskies will face Utah on Friday, March 26 at 1:00 pm, with the game streamed free via the Utah Live Stream.
DEFENSE FIRST
Washington still has not allowed multiple goals in a game this year. That is the second-best such streak to start a year in program history: in 2001, Washington went 11 games before allowing multiple goals. Washington has only allowed five total goals: another shutout would match the program record for fewest goals through ten games, set in 2001. 2001 is also the only year the Huskies have allowed fewer goals through nine games, allowing four that year.
SHOOT YOUR SHOT
Washington has outshot eight of its nine opponents so far, with only Arizona State outshooting the Huskies. Seven of Washington's opponents have had single-digit shots: the Huskies have been held to single-digit shots just once all year. Five of Washington's opponents have had one or fewer shots on goal. Only one opponent, Arizona State, has managed more than three shots on goal: the Sun Devils had nine.
LATE-GAME HEROICS
Washington has scored four goals after the 80th minute so far this season, with gamewinners in the 83rd against #24 Cal and in the 90th against Washington State. The Huskies have outscored the opposition 9-2 in the second half of games. Stanford is the only team to take the lead in the second half: the Huskies have trailed for 70 total minutes this season and just 32 minutes in the second half.
EARLY-GAME HEROICS, TOO
Only once all year have the Huskies faced a deficit at halftime: against #24 Cal 1-0. Washington has had a lead in seven of its nine games: only in the 0-0 tie with Colorado and 0-1 loss to #21 Stanford have the Huskies not lead at some point. Washington has scored first seven times.
LENDING A HELPING HAND
Summer Yates has assisted on three of Washington's last four goals. This is the first time in Yates' career she has had assists in back-to-back games and the fifth time she has had points in back-to-back games. Yates' career-long point streak is three games, from September 15-27 of 2019.
WINNING TAKES A TEAM
Five different players have scored gamewinners for the Huskies this year, with the sixth game-winning goal coming on an own goal forced by Karlee Stueckle and Sianna Siemonsma. Ameera Hussen, Summer Yates, Mary Johnston, Stueckle, and Siemonsma have all scored gamewinners already this season.
