Five Bears Earned MPSF All-Academic Honors On Thursday

BERKELEY – After clinching its seventh consecutive NCAA berth, the California men's gymnastics team also has academic successes to celebrate as five Golden Bears were named to the MPSF All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday.

All five selections were first-time honorees.

To be eligible for the MPSF All-Academic list, gymnasts must have earned a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically. Additionally, student-athletes must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received.

This year's honorees include juniors Kyle Abe and Yu-Chen Lee, as well as sophomores Aidan Giusti, Will Lavanakul and Noah Sano. Giusti's 3.47 GPA led the way on the team, while Sano was right behind at 3.45.

This news comes two days after the Bears found out they will journey to Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the NCAA Championships from April 16-17.
