Apr 16, 2021

LOS ANGELES – The No. 19 USC women's soccer team played to another 2-2 draw with No. 3 UCLA on Friday afternoon in the Coliseum to close the regular season.
The Trojans and Bruins also played to a 2-2 draw in a non-conference contest in Westwood back on March 18. The tie moves USC's overall record to 7-3-3 and Pac-12 mark to 6-3-2. UCLA closes the regular season at 12-1-2, 9-1-1.
USC jumped ahead early, getting a strike from Penelope Hocking in the 11th minute. USC had several chances in the first 10 minutes of the game as they controlled the action early. The Trojans then took a 2-0 lead early in the second half, when Tara McKeown scored on a header in the 47th minute.
The Bruins would move the momentum their way in the 56th minute, when Delanie Sheehan found the back of the net. The equalizer came in the 88th minute, with Olivia Athens heading it home.
Neither team was able to find an edge in the two overtimes, with each team taking five shots in the two extra periods. USC was without Hocking, Croix Bethune and Jaelyn Eisenhart in overtime, as all three had yellow cards and were at risk of missing a postseason opener if they received a second.

11' – USC: Penelope Hocking (assisted by Tara McKeown, Savannah DeMelo) – DeMelo found McKeown in the middle of the pitch and McKeown sent a ball ahead to Hocking. Hocking then finished on the run to the left of the keeper.
47' – USC: Tara McKeown (assisted by Savannah DeMelow, Croix Bethune) – Bethune played a short corner to DeMelo who sent in a cross that was headed in by McKeown.
56' – UCLA: Delanie Sheehan (assisted by Mia Fishel) – Fishel found Sheehan in the box and Sheehan finished in the upper left corner.
88' – UCLA: Olivia Athens (assisted by Marley Canales, Reilyn Turner) – Turner sent a free kick into the box and Canales headed a bouncing ball to Athens, who finished with a header.
The Trojans find out their postseason fate on Monday's NCAA selection show.
