No. 20 Sand Devils Get Back-To-Back Sweeps

BOISE, Idaho – No. 20 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball won back-to-back duals on Friday, beating Boise State and Utah in sweeps on the first day of the Boise State Beach Classic.
 
Arizona State improved to 8-9 and 4-6 against Pac-12 foes. ASU now has four sweeps this season and has won four of the last five duals. Individuals continue to make moves in the record books. Senior Samantha Plaster moved into a tie for fourth place in the record book for individual career wins, upping her total to 55 after today. Fellow senior Cierra Flood is closing in on 50 career wins, increasing her total to 48 with her two wins.
 
Game One: #20 Arizona State 5, Boise State 0
The Sand Devils earned their third sweep of the season by avenging a loss earlier this season against the Broncos. Despite the 5-0 win, three of the matches went to three sets. The top pair of Carballo and Sweeney dropped a close first set and came back to win the next two. Ames and Weintraub in the No. 5 spot did the same, coming back after falling in the opening set.

The second dual was never in doubt with the Sun Devils taking every match in straight sets. Five sets were won by double digits. Aleksandra Sochacka was back in the lineup after five duals, winning on court two with Emily Anderson.
