PHOENIX, Ariz. - The University of Utah Men's Golf team finished in a tie for sixth place at the Thunderbird Collegiate after shooting 22-under (830), which is the third lowest team score on record at Utah. Utah has now claimed five-straight top-10 team finishes.

The team started out the tournament by shooing 14-under (270) to place them in second among the field after the first 18, which was the third lowest round by any team at the tournament. In the second round, the team shot 10-under (274) to put them in third with just 18 holes to go (-24, 544).

On the final 18 the team shot 2-over (286) to give them a tournament score of 22-under (830). Three Utes finished inside the top-35 as the team hopes to continue their momentum going into the final regular season tournament of the year next weekend.

INDIVIDUAL BREAKDOWN
Junior Blake Tomlinson had a great tournament, capturing a share of his third-career tournament and the second of the season. Tomlinson finished in a three-way tie for first, becoming the second player under the direction of head coach Garrett Clegg to win multiple tournament titles in one season.

Tomlinson shot 12-under (201) overall to tie for the lowest 54-hole individual score on record at Utah. The record Tomlinson tied was his own as he shot 15-under (201) back in February at the Pat Hicks Invitational.

Senior Mitchell Schow also had a stellar tournament as he shot 6-under (207) to finish in a tie for 16th. Schow's 207 is the second lowest 54-hole score of his career as he shot a 205 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in 2019. In all three rounds of play in Phoenix, Schow shot 2-under (69) for his best tournament score of the season.

Freshman Javier Barcos shot 2-under (211) to finish in a tie for 35th with his best rounds coming in rounds one and two where he birdied a combined 11 holes on the first 36. Next up for the Utes was fellow freshman Jesper von Reedtz, who birdied seven holes on the first 18 to propel him to a tournament score of 2-over (215) tying him for 51st among the field.

Rounding out the team was junior Tristan Mandur, who shot 4-over (217) to finish in a tie for 64th with his best round coming on the second 18 where he shot 1-under (70).

TALKING ABOUT THE ROUND: HEAD COACH GARRETT CLEGG
"Overall a great tournament by the team, especially Blake. He was fantastic today after getting off to a rough start, but came through with an incredible final 11 holes to tie for the win. I'm really impressed by how great he is playing and as a team we were great yesterday and not as good today. We learned a lot, and this is a huge step in our program's progress. I am really pumped for all that this team is doing."
