Washington Shatters Program Record Again, ASU Wins Seven in West Coast Classic

TEMPE - Turner Washington is a real contender for an Olympic medal, and Jane Miller is very fast.
 
The Sun Devils competed in the West Coast Classic Saturday, sending distance runners and throwers to Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon and sprinters and jumpers down to Tucson to compete at Roy P Drachman Stadium. Washington highlighted the day, winning both the shot and discus, his plate throw going 66.26m/217-5, a six foot improvement on his program-leading personal record. The throw also moves Washington to sixth on the USTFCCCA all-time list. Miller turned heads in the women's 5K, winning in 16:45.72, a 15-second PR improvement for the Yale transfer.
 

 
Other event winners Saturday included Jorinde van Klinken in the women's discus, Carlan Naisant in the men's javelin, Hayely Rayburn in the pole vault, Jamar Marshall Jr.  in the 110m hurdles, and Adam Meyer in the men's 800m. ASU is back in action next Saturday in Phoenix for another invitational at Grand Canyon.
