STARTING BLOCK
Utah will get a second chance to get a feel for the newly reimagined Hayward Field, home of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, this weekend as it competes in the Oregon Twilight.

Whitney Hessler will make her return to Hayward Field after winning the 1500m on April 2 of this year with a PR time of 4:28.57. The senior also etched herself into the history books by winning the first race in the newly renovated state of the art facility. Maya LeBar will also look to set a new personal best in the 200m after recording a PR time of 24.55 at the Hayward Premiere.

The trio of Brooklyn James, Jackie Martin and Sarah Newton look to make moves on Saturday at the Portland Twilight inside Griswold Stadium. James (2:08.57) and Newton (2:05.88) both set their PRs in the 800m run two years ago at Griswold Stadium while Martin recorded her PR in the 200m back in 2019 when the meet was last held.

LAST TIME OUT
Utah sent a small contingent up north to the Weber State Twilight meet and picked up a pair of event victories to go with some new personal bests.

Freshmen Annie Murdock kicked this off with a win in the 400m dash with a mark of 57.08 (aa). Jasie York then followed up with a win in the 800m race, checking at 2:12.39 – which was also a new PR. Meanwhile, Meghan Curtin and Kaitlyn Mercer also set new personal bests in the 800m, clocking in at 2:15.84 (aa) and 2:21.24 (aa) respectively. Ruby Jane Mathewson captured a top-three finish after setting a new PR in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.84 (aa). Aubrey Argyle closed things out for the Utes with a third-place finish in the 5k race.

UP NEXT
The Utes will get a few days rest before they fly down to the City of Angels for the Pac-12 Championships held at Cromwell Field and Loker Track Stadium May 14-16.
