LOS ANGELES – Quentin Selma went 4-4 and finished a triple short of the cycle to lead Cal past UCLA by a score of 14-2 on Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Elvis Cole (4-5, five RBIs) and Steven Zobac (3-5, three RBIs) also had standout nights for the Golden Bears in the win.

Senior left fielder Kyle Cuellar and junior shortstop Mikey Perez both notched solo home runs to account for all of UCLA's run production.

Cuellar's blast tied the game at 1-1 for the Bruins in the bottom of the first.

Cal built a 7-2 lead by the fifth, then pulled away with a five-spot in the sixth.

Freshman righty Jake Brooks put an end to Cal's offensive production upon entering the game in the seventh, holding the visitors off the board the rest of the way.

He started his outing with a four-pitch strikeout of Darren Baker, and later rolled up an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play. The Fountain Valley, Calif. native followed that up with back-to-back 1-2-3 innings, ending his outing by retiring seven straight. His three innings were a career-high.

Cal starter Josh White (6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 K) received the win to improve to 5-2.

UCLA and Cal play game two of the series at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
