ASU's squad is headlined by world discus leader, Dutch discus record holder, Pac-12 Champion, and Pac-12 Women's Field Athlete of the Year Jorinde van Klinken. Van Klinken jumped to the top of the world discus list Saturday when she threw 70.22m/230-4 at the USTA Throws Festival in Tucson, Arizona. Turner Washington, who won the 2021 NCAA indoor shot put title and who is the ASU outdoor discus record holder, will also compete. Washington and van Klinken both lead the NCAA in the discus, and both have also hit Olympic standards in their respective disciplines. Pac-12 champions Jamar Marshall Jr. (110H), Carlan Naisant (javelin), and Alizee Minard (javelin) will also feature for the Sun Devils this week in Texas.

The Sun Devils are coming off a very successful Pac-12 Championships where ASU finished fourth in the men's rankings (72 points) and third in the women's (77). It was the best women's finish since ASU tied Stanford in 2014, and best men's finish since 2016.

Marshall's win in the 110H was ASU's first since 1987 and set a new program record. Van Klinken has won every discus competition of her collegiate career this far, and Naisant is a perfect 6-for-6 in the javelin. Washington has won every single indoor and outdoor meet he's competed in in 2021, picking up five outdoor discus wins along with a pair of shot victories since his indoor title.
