Twelve Sun Devils named to Athlon Sports’ 2021 All Pac-12 Teams

May 29, 2021

Sun Devil Football had 12 players named to Athlon Sports' All-Pac-12 team according to an announcement by the media outlet. ASU's number of student-athletes on the list tied for fourth most among schools in the league.

Half of ASU's dozen selections – RB Rachaad White (first-team offense), OL Dohnovan West (offense), DL Tyler Johnson (defense), CB Chase Lucas (defense), P Michael Turk (specialists) and KR D.J. Taylor (specialists) – earned first-team distinction with equal representation on offense (two), defense (two) and special teams (two).

The Sun Devils had a pair of players on either side of the ball named to the second team as QB Jayden Daniels and OL Kellen Diesch represented the Sun Devil offense while DL Jermayne Lole and S Evan Fields were singled out on ASU's defense.

LB Merlin Robertson (third-team defense) and RB Chip Trayanum (fourth-team offense) rounded out the list of Sun Devils on the teams.

Athlon's all-conference selections were based on how players will perform in 2021. Career statistics and awards mattered in the evaluation, but choosing players for the 2021 all-conference team was largely based on predicting and projecting the best for the upcoming year. Also, team strength did not play a role in selections.
