Jun 14, 2021

SEATTLE - Clement Chidekh added another honor on the heels of his stellar first season on Montlake. The native of France was named the ITA Northwest Region Rookie of the Year today, the first Husky to win the honor since 2016.

Chidekh went 14-6 in his first collegiate season this winter and spring, playing all but the first match of the year at No. 1 singles. He earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors, the first time a Husky was named First Team in their first season since 2004. He finished the year ranked No. 106 in the ITA national singles rankings.

"It is great that Clement is getting this well deserved recognition," Head Coach Matt Anger said. "Even more exciting to me is his potential with his work ethic to be one of the top players in the country."

Based on the final rankings, Chidekh had three wins over players ranked in the top-100, with a best win over No. 57 Kody Pearson of Tulsa. He posted an 8-2 record against Northwest Region opponents and also went 9-1 in home matches.
