EUGENE, Ore. - Former Husky Denham Patricelli proved he can hang with the nation's top javelin throwers today, as he finished fifth at the U.S. Olympic Trials. The 2019 grad launched a career-best on his sixth and final attempt today to earn his top-five finish.

It was the first Olympic Trials experience for Patricelli, a Maple Valley, Wash. native who capped his Husky career in 2019 with a Pac-12 runner-up finish and an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to earn First Team All-America.

Since then Patricelli has continued to train and compete post-collegiately. Today at Hayward Field, Patricelli threw 241-2 on his second attempt to make the top-eight that would earn a full six attempts. Then on his final throw, Patricelli went a new PR of 251-5 to finish in fifth, less than two feet out of third-place.
