Landman Named To Nagurski Watch List, First-Team Preseason All-Pac-12

Jul 27, 2021

LOS ANGELES-Senior Nate Landman was named to another watch list Tuesday, his second in two days and third overall, and the Pac-12 released the Preseason All-Pac-12 team here in Hollywood as part of Pac-12 Media Days.

Landman is on the Bronko Nagurski Watch List, given to the nation's top defensive player, for the third straight season and it's the Buffs' sixth mention on the list in the last five seasons when Chidobe Awuzie and Jimmie Gilbert were both put on the watch list prior to the 2016 season.  Matt Russell was named a semifinalist in 1996.

Landman and sophomore Jarek Broussard were both named to the first team on the Preseason All-Pac-12 team, released in conjunction with Pac-12 Media day in Los Angeles.  On that team, Terrance Lang and Mekhi Blackmon were both named to the second team while Carson Wells, Isaiah Lewis and Dimitri Stanley were honorable mention.

The preseason media poll was also released early Tuesday, and the Buffs were picked to finish fifth in the Pac-12 South despite finishing second in last season's COVID shortened season and earning a berth in the Alamo Bowl.

Landman was also placed on the Chuck Bednarik (national defensive player of the year) and the Dick Butuks (top linebacker) watch lists in the last nine days.  Broussard and Alex Fontenot were named to the Doak Walker (top running back) list and Brady Russell (top tight end) to those respective watch lists.

Coach Karl Dorrell along with Landman and Stanley are representing the Buffs at Media Day in Los Angeles, and the Buffs will be live on Pac-12 Networks studio show at 3:50 p.m. MT.  The three will also be on the main stage at 3 p.m. after a full day of talking to regional and national media.
