DURHAM, N.C. -- The Washington women's soccer team will wrap up a busy opening weekend on Sunday morning when the Huskies take on the No. 6 Duke Blue Devils bright and early at 9:00 a.m. on ACCNX.

UW will look to bounce back after a challenging debut match that saw them fall to No. 3 North Carolina by a score of 4-1. In that contest, Jessika Cowart scored the lone goal for the Huskies, her first goal since the 2017 season.

Two transfer forwards in McKenzie Weinert and Kyle Ferry saw their first action in UW uniforms as well.

Washington will meet a Duke team coming off an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals this past Spring, where the Blue Devils took Florida State all the way to penatly kicks before falling 5-3 in the shootout.

Duke opened its Fall season with a 3-1 victory over Arkansas on Thursday night in Durham. After the Razorbacks scored in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead. Michelle Cooper would equalize for the Blue Devils in the 39th minute. In the second half, Tess Boade and Mackenzie Pluck each slotted home penalty kicks to push the score to 3-1.

Robbie Church is in his 21st season at the helm of the Duke program and has amassed over 250 wins with the Blue Devils, including three trips to the College Cup.
