Beavers Set to Clash with Idaho and New Mexico

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State University women's soccer team will host Idaho at Lorenz Field on Friday at 3 p.m. before hitting the road to take on New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M. on Sunday at noon (PT). Tickets for Friday's match are available for purchase ranging from $4-$6. 

Last Time Out
Oregon State opened its season with a 1-0 victory over Seattle on Aug. 19. Junior Maddie Tetz scored the goal with an assist by freshman McKenna Martinez. Defensively, senior Bridgette Skiba earned her tenth career shutout. On Aug. 22, the Beavers took on Fresno State, downing the Bulldogs, 2-1. Senior Helena Brown posted OSU's first goal with an assist from Martinez during the 13th minute and sophomore Amber Jackson notched OSU's second with an assist from junior Sophie Conrad. Skiba posted four saves on the night. 

Last Time Against Idaho
The Beavers last met with the Vandals on Feb. 5, 2021, defeating Idaho 3-0 in Moscow, Idaho.  Laura Galceran scored in the 18th minute with an assist from Brianna McReynolds. In the 28th minute, Sydney Studer found the net with an assist from Kaillen Fried. McReynolds notched the third goal in the 57th minute to cap the shutout for the Beavs. 

Scouting Idaho
Idaho stands 2-0 (0-0 Big Sky), posting 1-0 road wins over North Dakota State and North Dakota.

Last season the Vandals went 5-6 (5-3 Big Sky). After dropping four contests at the start of the season, including their season opener against Oregon State, the Vandals snapped their losing streak with a pair of 5-0 wins over Portland State on Mar. 19 and 20. Idaho went on to notch two wins over Sacramento State and a win against Eastern Washington. In the Big Sky Championships, Idaho fell, 1-0, to Northern Arizona. 

Last Time Against New Mexico
Oregon State last met New Mexico on September 5, 2019, in Corvallis, edging past the Lobos, 1-0. Ashleigh Fonsen recorded her first career goal at the 52nd minute to put the Beavers on the board after the game had been delayed due to lightning. 

Scouting New Mexico
New Mexico is 1-1 (0-0 Mountain West). Starting the season with a 1-0 loss to UC Davis in Las Vegas, Nev., the Lobos bounced back to post a 5-1 win over Dixie State. 

Last season New Mexico went 10-2-1 (10-1 Mountain West), recording seven shutouts over the spring. The Lobos' only regular season loss came at the hands of Utah State, 1-0, on Mar. 27. New Mexico defeated San Diego State, 3-2, in the Mountain West final, earning a berth in the NCAA Women's College Cup. Tying with Navy, 1-1, in the first round, the Lobos made it to the round of 32 on penalty kicks, scoring 4-2. On April 30, New Mexico's season ended with a 6-2 loss to TCU.
