What's New on Gameday

Aug 31, 2021

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Sun Devil Athletics Senior Associate Athletic Director Michael Meitin unveiled new fan features that will be available at Sun Devil Stadium starting Thursday for the football season opener.

Starting this season, a new digital ticketing system will be used through new scanning pedestals. The pedestals scan digital tickets faster than traditional scanners, which will help reduce the time it takes fans to enter the stadium. They will also help prevent fraud between tickets, as they have a barcode that is constantly rotating, never showing the same numbers twice. Fans will be able to scan the tickets themselves, allowing for a contactless process. Screenshots of the ticket will not work on the new scanning pedestals. Learn how to transfer digital tickets.

The Southwest gate entrance will feature new metal detectors, which will also help speed up the process to enter. The new metal detectors have more magnets within them which will reduce the number of false positives, causing people to go back through the detectors. It will allow fans to pass by without removing items from their pockets and they will not have to wait in line to enter one at a time.

Beginning Saturday, Sept. 11, fans will be able to experience more pre-game options through the Sun Devil Oasis which will be located south of Desert Financial Arena. The Sun Devil Oasis will have games for kids, televisions to watch sports, as well as food and beverages. Tickets are available for $45 for the general public.

Once fans are in the stadium, there will be some new concessions to check out. Located on the Coca-Cola Sun Deck will be a new draft beer station, a pizza oven by Venezia's pizza and a Fork 'Em barbeque stand. This will allow for a food court feel to the area and give fans more variety in concessions.

All upgrades to the football gameday experience came as a result of fan surveys and feedback.
