Oct 5, 2021

TULSA, Okla. – Geronimo Busleiman concluded another day at the ITA All-American Championships on Tuesday as he went 1-1 on the day in the Qualifying Draw.

Busleiman started the day off strong but came just short in his second match of the day, just missing out on qualifying for the Main Draw. Busleiman played nearly six hours between both matches on Tuesday.

"Geronimo showed tremendous heart today and came up two points short of qualifying for the Main Draw at the ITA All-Americans," remarked Roeland Brateanu. "I am super proud of his effort and his attitude on the court, but most importantly, his improvement throughout the three matches here in Tulsa."

Busleiman started strong this morning, coming off a successful single match the day before. His first opponent was Thomas Brown, from Charlotte. This was a challenging match for Busleiman, but he ultimately took the upper hand and came out victorious by a score of 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-1.

The day's second match was against Pepperdine's Tim Zeitvogel, ranked 125th in the ITA preseason singles rankings. This match went into a third set, his third-straight three-set match in the qualifying draw. Busleiman was two points away from the victory but unfortunately fell short, dropping the match 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(3).

Ute Franco Capalbo will begin competition tomorrow when the tournament moves to Main Draw for singles. Capalbo is No. 98 in the ITA preseason singles ranking. Match information can be followed by clicking here
