Lu Named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month

Oct 6, 2021

EUGENE, Ore. — Sophomore Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu has been named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Month for September following her historic performance in the Ducks' 2021-22 season opener at the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Lu was absolutely stellar in leading the Ducks to a dominant team victory in Tennessee, shattering the individual program record for 54 holes with a 17-under par weekend to win the individual title by six shots. Lu's 17-under showing was five strokes better than the previous program record.

A Taiwan native, Lu opened the tournament with a 6-under 66 and took a two-shot lead into the final round after firing a 4-under 68 in the second round. She saved her best for the final round, making seven birdies en route to a 7-under 65, tied for the third-best individual round in program history.

Lu closed the Mason Rudolph Championship with an incredible run of 42 consecutive holes without a bogey, and she led the field with 19 total birdies on the weekend.

As a team, Lu led the Ducks to a program-record score of 26-under par, headlined by a 12-under par showing in the opening round. Oregon claimed its second tournament in under head coach Derek Radley, and Lu became the first Duck since 2015-16 to win an individual tournament title outright.

Lu is the second Duck ever to earn Pac-12 Golfer of the Month honors, and first since Caroline Inglis claimed the award in April 2015.
