Beavers Edged In Road Matchup

Oct 9, 2021

PULLMAN, Wash. – B.J. Baylor ran for 145 yards and Deshaun Fenwick ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns but Oregon State was edged, 31-24, by Washington State Saturday at Martin Stadium.

Fenwick scored on carries from 15 and 11 yards, respectively, both coming in the second half. Jack Colletto accounted for Oregon State's other rushing touchdown, early in the second. And Everett Hayes connected on a 39-yard field goal with 5:55 left in the first half.

That field goal pushed Oregon State to a 10-3 halftime advantage. Washington State (3-3 overall, 2-2 Pac-12 Conference) out-scored the Beavers, 28-14, in the second half. The game was effectively ended when Trey Lowe caught an 18-yard pass under a minute to play. The running back, however, needed to gain 19 yards and the Beavers (4-2, 2-1) turned the ball over on downs.

Baylor and Fenwick are the first two OSU teammates to top 100 yards rushing in the same game since Jermar Jefferson and Artavis Pierce on Nov. 2, 2019 at Arizona.

OSU was led defensively by Avery Roberts, who totaled 11 tackles – his 12th career double-digit effort in 23 games with the Beavers. Andrzej Hughes-Murray recorded 1.5 tackles for loss, with one coming on a sack, while Omar Speights picked off his second pass of the season.

Oregon State returns to Reser Stadium Oct. 23 when the Beavers host Utah. Kickoff and TV information will be announced at a later date.
