Beavers Battle Bears, Fall 39-25

BERKELEY, Calif. – The Oregon State football team fell to California 39-25 Saturday evening in Berkeley, Calif.
 
With the loss, the Beavers move to 5-3 on the season, and 3-2 in Pac-12 play.
 
Trevon Bradford exploded for a career-high 124 yards on six receptions. He finished with a pair of touchdowns through the air as well as five yards on the ground. Chance Nolan ended his evening with 243 yards on 15-for-26 passing, to go with two touchdowns through the air and 14 yards rushing.
 
Deshaun Fenwick led the Beavers on the ground, finishing with 48 yards rushing and a touchdown. Champ Flemings tallied one catch for 40 yards.
 
Avery Roberts recorded 12 tackles, his fifth-straight double-digit tackling game. Kitan Oladapo notched eight tackles while Andrzej Hughes-Murray also finished with eight tackles.
 
California jumped in front early, capitalizing on an Oregon State turnover to score a touchdown less than three minutes into the contest on its way to an early 10-0 advantage. The Beavers bounced back with a drive that culminated in a 29-yard field goal, but the Golden Bears answered with another touchdown to take a 17-3 lead.
 
Oregon State cut the edge to a single score just before the break, as Nolan delivered a 32-yard strike to Bradford to bring the Beavers within 17-10. Bradford accounted for 54 yards receiving on the Beavers' 72-yard scoring drive, as Cal went to the locker room in front 17-10.
 
The Golden Bears opened the second half with a touchdown to restore the 14-point advantage. Oregon State responded with a Fenwick touchdown to get back within a score. California scored to close the third quarter, extending the lead back to 14.
 
Bradford found the endzone again in the fourth quarter, and Nolan converted the two-point conversion to bring the score to 31-25. Cal came back with a touchdown to lock down the victory.
 
The Beavers will hit the road again next week, as Oregon State faces Colorado Saturday in Boulder.
