Ducks Close Regular Season at OSU

Nov 2, 2021

Oregon wraps us the regular season by facing Oregon State in Corvallis on Friday (7 p.m., Pac-12 Network).

KEY STORYLINES
• Far From Home: The Ducks are an impressive 4-1-4 on the road this season (2-1-2 in league play).
• Oregon has consecutive winning seasons for the first time in 40 years; 1980 (13-1-3) and 1981 (13-2-3).
• Oct. 24 at Utah, the Ducks tied the 1981 team with their program-record ninth shutout of the season.
• Oregon's 9-4-5 record (.611) is currently the fourth best in program history. It trails only 1980 at .853 (13-1-3), 1981 at .806 (13-2-3) and 2006 at .650 (12-6-2).
• The Ducks are the only team that has shutout UCLA this fall (0-0, Sept. 24). It was the first time the Bruins had been shutout at home in more than three years. Leah Freeman (goalkeeper) and Chai Cortez (defender) were named Pac-12 players of the week.
• Individually, Leah Freeman leads the Pac-12 and ranks seventh nationally with a UO single-season record nine shutouts.
• Oregon has scored 27 goals in 18 games in 2021. Contrast that to last season: 12 goals in 16 games.
• The Ducks have been shutout just twice this year (UCLA, Washington State). That's the fewest number of shutouts against the Ducks since the 1981 team was shutout just twice.
• No one has played in more matches in an Oregon uniform than fifth-year seniors Chardonnay Curran (91 - first), Mia Palmer (87 - second) and Eden Hardy (84 - third). Curran also holds the record for career starts (83).
• Forward Jordan Wormdahl's mother Brandy, who is currently the head coach at North Eugene High School, lettered for the Oregon State soccer team from 1989-92.
• Among the six "power conferences" (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC), Oregon is one of only three schools that has never been to the NCAA Tournament. Pitt (ACC) and Seton Hall (Big East) are the other two (note: Georgia Tech (ACC) does not sponsor women's soccer).
• Oregon returned all 11 starters from last season's squad that posted the Ducks' first winning record (6-5-5) since 2006 (12-6-2), including all-conference picks Zoe Hasenauer, Croix Soto and Leah Freeman. Freeman was also named to the Pac-12 all-freshman team.
