No. 8 USC Women's Soccer Falls on the Road at No. 3 UCLA

Nov 5, 2021

WESTWOOD, Calif. – The No. 10 USC women's soccer team dropped its regular-season finale to No. 3 UCLA on the road Friday night, falling 3-1 to the Bruins.

A sluggish start put the visitors behind 2-0 early and the Trojans were unable to overcome the deficit, finishing the regular season with a 13-3-2 overall record and 8-1-2 Pac-12 mark. It was the first loss for the Trojans since Aug. 26 at BYU, snapping a 15-match unbeaten streak. UCLA closes the regular season 16-0-3 overall and 8-0-3 in conference action.

The Bruins scored off a corner in the 18th minute and then added a second goal just over five minutes later to take the 2-0 advantage into the break.

The Trojans had the bulk of the scoring chances in the second half and finally broke through when Hannah White drew a penalty in the area and Penelope Hocking converted the kick. USC couldn't find another, however, and UCLA added a third goal when Marley Canales' 83rd minute corner kick went in.

USC owned a 5-1 shot advantage in the second half and 3-1 corner kick edge.
