Soccer Selection Show Monday

Nov 7, 2021

PULLMAN, Wash. – After one of the most successful seasons in program history, the Washington State soccer team is set to find out it's placement among the 64 teams in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Cougs and the rest of the field will find out the tournament bracket Monday, Nov. 8 with the live NCAA Tournament Selection Show scheduled to go live at 1:30 p.m. (PT) on NCAA.com.

The Cougars finished the 2021 regular season with a third place finish in the Conference of Champions after posting a record of 13-2-4 including a Pac-12 record of 7-1-3. The third place finish tied for the highest finish in conference play under head coach Todd Shulenberger and ties for the second-best finish all-time only falling short of the second place finish in 2013. In all the Cougs seven wins in Pac-12 play matched their most wins in conference action alongside of the 2013 and 2015 Cougs while their .773 winning percentage was the best of all-time becoming the first team to break .700 in program history. In addition, the 13 regular season wins was the second-most in program history falling one shy of the program record.

In the previous six seasons under coach Shulenberger the Cougs have gone dancing four times (with the 2021 spring shortened season being one of the none postseason years for WSU). The last time the Cougs were in the postseason was the historic run to the College Cup in 2019 as WSU played its way through arguably the toughest bracket in the country to play in the program's first semifinal contest.

The 2021 DI women's soccer tournament kicks off the weekend of Nov. 12-13. Second and third rounds continue the following weekend from Nov. 19-21. The four national semifinalists will be determined in the quarterfinals on Nov. 26-27.

The College Cup will be held at Stevens Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Friday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 5. It will consist of the four quarterfinal winners.
