USC Women's Soccer Coaches Named Pacific Region Staff of the Year

Nov 30, 2021

LOS ANGELES – For the second time during his tenure with the program, USC Women's Soccer Head Coach Keidane McAlpine and his staff have been named the Pacific Region Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches organization.

McAlpine, associate head coach Jason Lockhart, assistant coach Sammy Towne, goalkeepers coach Ian Feuer and a dedicated team of support staff led the Trojans to a 14-3-3 record this season and into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The USC staff also won the award in 2018 and this season, McAlpine was named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year for the first time during his tenure with the Trojans.

McAlpine, now in his eighth season at the helm for USC, has guided the Trojans to the postseason every year he has been at Troy, leading the team to a three-seed in this year's tournament. USC has been a national seed each of the last seven years. 2021's 14 wins also mark the seventh straight year (excluding the shortened 2020 campaign) that McAlpine and staff have led USC to double-digit victories.

USC set program records with an 11-match winning streak and 15-match unbeaten streak this year, going on an impressive run after dropping their first two games of the season. The Trojans posted eight shutouts on the year and scored a total of 56 goals, the third most in program history. The Trojans outscored opponents by 36 goals this season and, further demonstrating the staff's ability to adjust in-game, outscored opponents 34-6 in the second half and overtime during the 2021 campaign.

The Trojan support staff this season consisted of; Director of Operations Carla Hayden, Strength and Conditioning Coach Jill Zeller, Athletic Trainer TaMesha Jefferson, Sports Psychologist Dylan Firsick, Sports Dietitian Christy Schuld and Outside Consultant Renee Horton.
