Nakada Announced Bizzy Bowen as Volunteer Coach

SALT LAKE CITY – Head Women's Soccer Coach Hideki Nakada announced the addition of Bizzy Bowen to the soccer staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming season.
 
"We are thrilled to have Bizzy join our coaching staff," remarked head coach Hideki Nakada. "Her passion and knowledge for the game, coupled with a fantastic playing career, will greatly benefit our team as she knows what it takes to be an elite Division I athlete. I am excited for all the positive impact she will have for our program both on and off the field."
 
Prior to getting into coaching, Bowen was a four-year member of the Brigham Young Cougars women's soccer program. She started and appeared in 85 matches during her career, scored ten goals, and dished out eight assists. She was the captain of the Cougars her senior season. 
 
Bowen has multiple coaching experiences that she brings to Utah. She currently is the assistant coach for the 08 ODP Team, which runs through 2022. Along with working with the ODP team, she is currently an assistant with the 2005 Utah Celtic team, which she started in 2021. 
 
Bowen was the assistant coach at Wasatch High School during the 2021 season. Her coaching career started with the Utah Celtic as an assistant coach of the 2000's premier team during 2016. She was also the head coach of the 2000's second team in 2017-18.
 
As a player, she started all 21 games as a freshman and tallied three goals and two assists. She made the All-WCC Freshman Team following the 2014 season. Bowen earned all-freshman honors and earned Second Team All-WCC honors after the season. 
 
Bowen's sophomore year, she was named Second Team All-WCC. She played all but 25 minutes as a midfielder during the 2015 season and had two goals and two assists. She earned All-WCC Academic team honors this season. 
 
During her junior season, she started all 23 games tallied two goals and a career-high three assists. Off the field, she earned All-WCC Academic honors. Her senior season, she started 19 games, tied a career-high with three goals, and had one assist. 
 
Before heading to BYU, Bowen was the 2013 Gatorade State Player of the Year at Alta High School. The Sandy, Utah native, was also named NSCAA All-American following the 2012 and 2013 season and was named 2013 Deseret News Utah Ms. Soccer. She was a three-time Salt Lake Tribune First Team All-State selection and a 2013 UHSAA Academic All-State honoree.
 
She was the team captain for her club and high school team. Bowen was a seven-time Utah State Cup Champion. Over her time at Alta High School, Bowen set the school career record in assists with 60. She was a member of the Utah ODP team from 2008 to 2013 and a member of the Region Team in 2013.
