Junior Lexi Mills Tabbed Pac-12 Women's Diver of the Month

Jan 14, 2022

SAN FRANCISCO – Utah junior Lexi Mills has been named Pac-12 December Women's Diver of the Month, announced on Friday by the conference.

"Lexi has put in tremendous amount of work and it's great to see her get recognized for it," head diving coach Richard Marschner said. "She dived incredibly well on all three events at Princeton against some great competitors, so the honor is well deserved."

Mills showcased stellar performances last month at the Big Al Invitational, hosted by Princeton, and never placed outside the top-seven in the events she competed in. Starting with the 3M dive on the opening day, Mills posted a score of 293.20 in the preliminary round to advance to the finals and followed that up with a 303.25 (NCAA Zones qualifying score) to lead the Utes placing second.

On day two, Mills posted a score of 271.50 in the 1M dive prelims and scored a 250.85 in the finals to finish seventh. The 271.50 she showcased in the prelims was also an NCAA Zones qualifying mark. The platform was the final event on the third day at the invitational and Mills posted a personal-best of 216.30, which was good for seventh.

The New Kent, Va., native is in her third season with the Utah program and has placed two scores in the Utah All-Time Top-10 record book. At the 2021 Pac-12 Championships, Mills recorded the fifth-best 3M score in Utah History with a 320.65. Against BYU inside Ute Natatorium in January of 2021, Mills jumped into the 1M All-time Top-10 list after posting a 281.85, good for ninth all-time and the event victory.

Outside of the pool, Mills has also been named Pac-12 All-Academic and as a freshman she was tabbed a CSCAA (College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America) Scholar All-American.
