Meisberger Leads the Way in Day One of the Corky Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas – Shannon Meisberger and the Arizona Wildcats hit the track fast in the opening day of the Corky Classic. Meisberger placed first in the 600yd run with a blistering pace of 1:20.30. Three other Wildcats placed in the top 10 in the 600yd, including Xahria Santiago (10th), Skylar Sieben (6th), and Anna Foreman (4th) who also broke her 600yd PR in the first meet of the season.

Dominic Gehr, Jenica Bosko and Zach Landa also competed today for the Wildcats. Jenica Bosko flew in the long jump with a distance of 5.84m to place third in her section. The freshman continued to impress by placing third in her section of the 200m with a 24.59.

Gehr tied for first in his section of the pole vault by breaking his indoor PR with a vault of 4.60m. Landa was able to take fifth in his section for the weight throw in the first day of competition.

 "It was a major learning day for our team." said head coach Fred Harvey, "We were face with a bit of adversity this morning, and they had faith in their training and abilities and had fantastic first day of competition."
