GymDawgs Had Strong Debut In Oregon State Tri-Meet

CORVALLIS, OR—In the season opener for the Washington gymnastics team, they posted solid scores for their debut in Corvallis. The meet featured Oregon State, San Jose State, along with the Huskies. Oregon State won the meet, scoring 192.725. The GymDawgs followed scoring 194.000. Lastly, San Jose State recorded a final score of 192.725.
 
"It was a really good first meet," said Head Coach Jen Llewellyn. "First and foremost, we were just excited to get started and actually compete."
 
For the Dawgs, sophomore, Skylar Killough-Wilhelm came out strong in her first meet of the season. Killough-Wilhlem, the only all-around competitor for the GymDawgs, tied for the winner on beam with a score of 9.900. Her all-around score was 39.175. 
 
"There were a lot of high moments and special routines," said Llewellyn. "But what I love most is how much room for growth we have and so much room for improvement to go into next week."
 
Senior, Amara Cunningham also had a strong night posting scores of 9.850 on both floor and vault. Junior, Kennedi Davis also performed well on beam, scoring 9.825.
 
Next, the GymDawgs take on Cal at home in Hec Edmonson Pavilion on January 22 at 1 p.m. PST. 
 
"Being able to have a full week of practice and having everyone back in the gym will be nice," said Llewellyn. "Really just working on trusting those little things, details, and landings."
