Track and Field Splits Up for Second-Straight Weekend

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track and Field will compete in two more meets this weekend after a doubleheader last weekend. This week the Cats will travel back to Flagstaff, Ariz. for the Ron Mann Classic and up to Spokane, Wash. for the WSU Invitational & Multis. The Cats will start competing at 6:00 p.m. MST in Spokane on Friday with the high jump and weight throw, while running events will start the competition in Flagstaff at 11:00 a.m. MST on Friday.

Nine athletes will compete in the WSU Invitational in throws and high jump including Talie Bonds and Jordan Geist, while five runners will compete in the Ron Mann Classic, featuring Isaac Davis and Trayvion White-Austin.

The Wildcats competed at the Texas Tech Open & Multis and the UW Invitational last weekend with several athletes putting up PRs and top scores. In the shot put, Jordan Geist and Samantha Noennig took home first place for the second time this season with throws of 20.87m (68-5.75) and 17.14m (56-2.75) respectively. Trayvion White-Austin ran a 6.71 in the 60m and won the event for the Wildcats. Pole vaulter Katie Daily posted an indoor PR of 3.97m (13-0.25) in the pole vault for the second straight week. Brothers Ian Sanchez Lopez and Iker Sanchez Lopez made their 3000m debut at UW, clocking 7:59.63 and 8:02.52, respectively. Shem Kemboi picked up a PR of 8:34.98 in the race.
