Men’s Tennis Defeats Texas Tech, 4-0

SALT LAKE CITY – Looking to close the weekend off on a high note, the Utah men's tennis team matched up with Texas Tech. The Utes earned their eighth win of the season with a 4-0 victory over the Red Raiders on Sunday afternoon at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.  
The match began with doubles play, where the Utes faced some skilled opponents. On court two, Francisco Bastias and Bruno Caula defeated the Raider duo 6-2. On court three, the Utes fell short to the visiting team, 6-2.
The doubles point was decided on court one, where Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Espin Busleiman battled it out with Raiders Isaac Arevalo and Reed Collier. Capalbo and Espin Buslieman took the upper hand and granted the Utes their eighth doubles point of the season with a 7-5 victory.
As the match moved into singles, the Utes were up for a challenge. On court three, Espin Busleiman defeated Olle Wallin 6-2, 6-3 and awarded the Utes with their second match point. Bastias also took the victory on court two by winning 6-3, 6-3.
The match point came on court one, where Capalbo defeated Isaac Arevalo 6-3, 6-2 and clinched the victory.

On courts four, five, and six, the Utes were battling it out, but the remaining three matches were unfinished.

The Utes will face Gonzaga next Saturday, Feb. 12, at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center at 9 a.m. MT.
