ASU Claims 5 Podium Spots, 1 All-Time Update Across Three Meets

Feb 14, 2022

TEMPE - Sun Devil Track and Field continued to push the throttle this weekend with the full squad in action across New Mexico, Washington and Arkansas. ASU recorded five top-3 finishes and celebrated second-year Dylan James moving up in the all-time triple jump records. Turner Washington also claimed gold yet again in the shot put. ASU now has six national top-30 marks on the men's side and nearly three on the women's.  Washington and Jorinde van Klinken (shot put) have the highest spots at second and third, respectively.

James has continued to progress since coming to ASU one year ago. The Aussie went
15.77m/51-9.00 in the TJ to claim second, set a new indoor PR, and move to eighth all-time in the ASU indoor record book. In his first year, James went to the NCAA Outdoor West Prelims for both teh TJ and LJ and claimed bronze at the Pac-12 Championships for the long jump. This weekend's TJ mark sits 33rd in the nation.

Turner Washington continues to dominate the field to no one's surprise. He won with a 20.69m/67-10.75 mark, which isn't a PR for him. He's second in the nation at 21.33m/69-11.75. Van Klinken finished second in the shot at 18.47m/60-7.25. That's not a PR for the Dutchwoman. Her season's best of 18.88m/61-11.5 has her sitting second in the country.

Sevanna Hanson took bronze in the pole vault in New Mexico after leaping 4.12m/13-6.25, and Mya Lesnar rounded out the podium group with a third-place 16.41m/53-10.25 shot put mark - her throw ranking 31st in the NCAA.
