Cougars Taking On The Pac-12 In Seattle

PULLMAN, Wash.— In the final stretch of 2021-22 indoor track and field season, the Washington State men's and women's track and field team will be heading to Seattle for the Pac-12 Invitational this weekend.
 
The Pac-12 Invitational will be the final meet of the indoor season and the last chance for any Cougar athlete to recorded a national top-16 mark in their event and qualify for the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
 
Heading into this week graduate students Sam Brixey and Colton Johnsen are the only two Cougs with NCAA qualifying marks in their respective events. Johnsen holds the 12th best mark in the mile with a time of 3:55.74 and the 13th best mark in the 3,000m with a time of 7:45.80. Brixey's 60m hurdle time of 7.69 is the 12th best mark in the NCAA.  
 
In the latest USTFCCCA event squad rankings, WSU has five squads sitting inside the top-30. The WSU men currently rank 11th in the 60m hurdles, 12th in the high jump, and 28th in the 3,000m, while the Cougar women rank 26th in the 60m hurdles and 27th in the high jump.
Facility and Starting times
The Pac-12 Invitational will be held at the Dempsey Indoor Facility, Feb. 25-26 in Seattle. On Friday, the 25, both the field and running events are set to start 12 p.m. PT. On Saturday, field events are set to begin at 10 a.m. PT, while running events will start 30 minutes later at 10:30 a.m. PT. A full schedule of events and start times can be found here.

The Field
All 12 Pac-12 schools will be in Seattle competing in the Pac-12 Invitational. Washington State will be sending a total of 57 student athletes across the state to compete in the meet.
