Feb 25, 2022

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – No. 9 Oregon dropped two games to ranked opponents Friday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

No. 18 Northwestern (8-2) rode a fourth-inning home run from Jordyn Rudd to a 1-0 victory over the Ducks.

The Wildcats' Danielle Williams held Oregon hitless until the seventh inning when KK Humphreys lined a double to left field. After Ariel Carlson walked, Humphreys was thrown out at the plate trying to score on Kedre Luschar's two-out single to end the game.

Makenna Kliethermes (3-2) went the distance in a tough-luck loss. She struck out four, allowed four hits and just the one run.

In the second game, No. 16 Missouri defeated Oregon 6-2.

After the Tigers (9-3) scored two in the first inning and two in the fourth. The Ducks (8-3) answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth when Hanna Delgado scored on Allee Bunker's RBI single.

Oregon's other run came on Delgado's first home run of the season, a solo shot over the center-field fence in the sixth inning.

Noteworthy: Bunker's error against Missouri was just the third of the season for the Ducks. Luschar had hits in both games Friday, giving her a four-game hitting streak.

On Deck: Oregon continues play in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The Ducks will play Seattle at 5 p.m. and Cal State Fullerton at 7:30 p.m.
