Arizona's Schnell highlights 2022 Pac-12 Women's Diving Championships
TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona's Hillenbrand Aquatic Center hosted the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Diving Championships for the second consecutive year, with the Conference's Swimming Championships being held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
2022 Pac-12 Women’s Diver of the Meet: Delaney Schnell, Sr., ARIZONA (Tucson, Ariz.)
For the second consecutive Championships, ARIZONA senior and 2020 Tokyo Olympics medalist Delaney Schnell earned Pac-12 Women’s Diver of the Meet honors after repeating as champion in both the 1-meter springboard and platform events. The senior diver also took second place in the 3-meter springboard event.
1-Meter Springboard: Delaney Schnell, Sr., ARIZONA (Tucson, Ariz.)
Competing in her home facility, Schnell kicked competition off on Wednesday with a dominating performance, winning the 1-meter springboard by 23 points. The Tucson native earned a score of 332.55 in the event in which she is a three-time NCAA All-American.
STANFORD’s Daria Lenz finished second (309.10) while UCLA’s Hannah Butler took third (299.55).
3-Meter Springboard: Carolina Sculti, Sr., STANFORD (Rye, N.Y.)
On Thursday, STANFORD senior Carolina Sculti claimed her second Pac-12 title in the 3-meter springboard after posting a score of 370.75, edging runner-up Schnell (369.30) by just 1.45 points. Sculti was also the Conference's 3-meter champion in 2020.
Stanford's Lenz placed third with a score of 332.90.
Platform: Delaney Schnell, Sr., ARIZONA (Tucson, Ariz.)
Schnell wrapped diving competition on Friday with her fourth career Pac-12 title, securing a second straight Platform title with a score of 312.55. USC's Nike Agunbiade placed second at 295.15, while Stanford's Lenz recorded her third podium finish at 273.05.
