Bears Finish Up At Pac-12 Invite

SEATTLE – California track & field closed out day 2 of the Pac-12 Invitational with a trio of top-3 finishes and 14 new personal bests at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor on Saturday afternoon, concluding the indoor regular season.

Freshman Di'Niko Bates kicked things off for Cal with a third-place finish in the men's 60m hurdles, racing to a time of 8.08. He was followed onto the podium by senior Felicia Renelus, who leaped 12.60/41-4.25 to take second place in the women's triple jump, and by senior Josh Johnson, who bettered his personal record in the men's shot put with a heave of 19.93m/65-4.75 to take further command of Cal's No. 2 all-time spot.

In the women's 400m dash, freshman Aly Conyers moved up to sixth in program history with her PR of 55.54. Meanwhile, classmate Isaiah Shaw continued his season-long improvement in the men's triple jump, breaking his personal record with a best leap of 14.57m/47-9.75.

Freshman Riley Knott reached a personal-record 4851 points in the heptathlon, aided by his solid pole vault performance of 4.40m/14-5.25 on Saturday after finishing second in the high jump on Friday.

In order to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships in two weeks, competitors must possess a time or mark within the Top 16 nationally in their respective events. Qualifiers will be announced next week.
