Geist and Noennig Represent Arizona at NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arizona Track and Field is sending Jordan Geist and Samantha Noennig to Birmingham for the NCAA Indoor Championships. They will compete on Saturday, Mar. 12 with Geist at 5:00 pm MST and Noennig at 8:00 p.m. MST, both in the shot put.

Geist finished the Indoor season with the fourth best mark in the NCAA with a throw of 20.91m (68'-7.25") in the shot put. Samantha Noennig ended her impressive Indoor season with the twelfth best throw in NCAA with 17.27m (56'-8").

The Wildcats competed at the Pac-12 Invitational two weeks ago in Seattle, Talie Bonds started the second day of competition by tying the school record for the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.16 to place second in the event. She also finished in second for the women's high jump with a height of 1.75m.

Samantha Noennig got herself on the podium of the women's shot put with a throw of 16.77m to end in third place. Neysia Howard had an impressive Pac-12 performance with a third-straight race with a PR in the 60m finals with a time of 7.40.

Katie Daily started off the meet with an impressive performance in the women's pole vault where she vaulted a collegiate PR of 4.17m to win the event and become a Pac-12 Invitational Champion.

Skylar Sieben was the second Wildcat to win their event and become a Pac-12 Invitational Champion as she put up an overall PR in the pentathlon with 4,072 points. She earned personal bests in three of the five events (60m Hurdles – 8.57, Shot put – 12.25m, 800m – 2:21.51) and never placed lower than the top four in any event.
