Colorado Opens Outdoor Season At Home

Mar 16, 2022

BOULDER – With the indoor season in the books, the University of Colorado track and field program opens up the 2022 outdoor season at home for the 2022 Jerry Quiller Classic this Friday and Saturday.

Friday is scheduled to have the have the hammer throws, javelin and triple jumps compete beginning at 2 p.m., while the rest of the field events and running events will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Buffs are coming on the indoor season with a NCAA National Championship in the women's mile from Micaela DeGenero, who led the women's team to tied for 11th in the championships as a team. The women tied Oregon for the highest scoring Pac-12 team at the National Championships.

With the outdoor season here, the CU women are poised better than ever to take over the Pac-12. The additions of the steeplechase and 400 hurdles play into returning NCAA Outdoor qualifiers Madie Boreman in the steeple and Abbey Glynn in the hurdles. The women's team also welcomes Abby Nichols back for her final outdoor season after qualifying for both the 5,000 and 10,000 last season.

On the men's side, Aaron McCoy will make his transfer to the 400 hurdles along with Garrett Nelson. The men's team will also have transfer Stephen Jones who is a strong steeplechase athlete that qualified for the championships in 2019. The final addition for Colorado is Dominique Williams who had an incredible indoor season unattached in the weight throw.

The Buffs will be honoring the late Air Force track coach Ralph Lindeman that passed away earlier this month. Colorado will have a moment of silence for the coach Saturday at 11 a.m. prior to the National Anthem.
