Cougs Open Outdoor Track and Field Season This Weekend

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State track and field team kicks off the 2022 outdoor season this weekend. WSU will be splitting up the squad for the first week of outdoor competition, as some Cougs will be heading down to Tempe, Arizona to participate in the Baldy Castillo Invitational while the others will go up to Spokane to compete in the Sam Adams Classic.

Baldy Castillo Invitational
Washington State will be sending a total of 49 student-athletes to compete at the Baldy Castillo Invitational, hosted by Arizona State, at the Joe Selleh Track & Sun Angel Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.

Dates and Times
The Baldy Castillo Invitational gets started Friday, March 18, with events beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT and ending at 7:35 p.m. PT. The meet will pick back up Saturday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. PT and concludes at 6 p.m. PT.

The Field
A total of nine teams will be competing at Arizona State this weekend. Washington State, Arizona, and the host Sun Devils will be representing the Pac-12 Conference at the Baldy Castillo Invitational, while Grand Canyon, Iowa, LSU, Northern Arizona, Ohio State, and Texas A&M will also be in attendance in Tempe.

Sam Adams Classic
WSU is sending 10 student-athletes up to Spokane to compete at the Sam Adams Classic, hosted by Whitworth University. The meet will be held Saturday, March 19, at the Pine Bowl in Spokane.

Dates and Times
The Sam Adams Classic will kick off with track events starting at 1:20 p.m. PT and field events starting at 2 p.m. PT.

The Field
In addition to Washington State, teams that will be competing at the Sam Adams Classic are Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Lewis-Clark State, Spokane CC, Treasure Valley, Whitman, and Whitworth.
