No. 1 UCLA Defeats No. 20 Tulane, 4-1

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- No. 1 UCLA (13-0) remained undefeated on the year with a 4-1 win over No. 20 Tulane (11-5) in the Bruins' fourth dual of the March to May event at Gulf Beach Place. UCLA improved to 4-0 all-time against the Green Wave.

Redshirt junior transfer Pani Napoleon and redshirt freshman Tessa Van Winkle won their first-ever countable match at UCLA on court five when they took down Tulane's Haley Gibson and Savka Popovic in straight sets, 21-13, 21-15 to put UCLA up 1-0.

Then the Bruins' super freshman duo of Natalie Myszkowski and Sophie Moore remained undeafeated on the year with a 21-10, 21-18 win over Josie Cole and Sam Green on court five to put UCLA up 2-0.

UCLA clinched the dual on court two when sophomore Rileigh Powers and senior Lea Monkhouse defeated the Green Waves' Lara Torruella and Samantha Mehlman, 21-8, 21-18.

Sophomore Lexy Denaburg and junior Abby Van Winkle put UCLA up 4-0 with a three-set win on court one over Maddie Speicher and Kendall Peters, 21-14, 19-21, 15-8.

Redshirt sophomore Maggie Walters and freshman Katie Hashman saw their comeback fall short in a three-set match on court three to Sara Hall and Ashton Mares, 21-19, 19-21, 15-12.

The Bruins will conclude the March to May event tomorrow when they face the hosts, UAB (5-11) at 11:00 a.m. PT and No. 5 LSU (15-0) at 1:00 p.m. PT.
