McCloy Advances to 200m Finals at UVU Collegiate Invitational

Mar 31, 2022

OREM, Utah – A little over a handful of Utah track & field competitors kicked off a busy weekend for the Women of Utah on Thursday at the UVU Collegiate Invitational held at Hal Wing Track & Field Center.

Taylor Watson started what was a very cold and windy day of competition in the 100m dash, posting a time of 13:02 (-1.4).

A little while later, the 1500m crew of Kennedy Powell, Maddie Reed, Natalie Platil, Lauren Peterson and Chloe Kockler took to the track. Peterson was the lone Ute in the first section and took third with a time of 4:43.81 in her first collegiate outdoor race – which wound up being good for third overall as well.

In the second section, Platil was just out-leaned at the finish line to take second at 4:55.26 while Kockler (4:57.32) came in at third in her first 1500m outdoor race. Reed narrowly picked up a new PR after crossing the finish line at 5:00.20 while Powell closed things out at 5:04.13.

Makenna McCloy and Watson concluded the day of competition for Utah in the 200m dash. Watson ran a 26.07 (+0.9) in the third heat while McCloy took second in her heat with a PR time of 25.08 (+2.1) and qualified for the 200m finals on Friday at 12:45 p.m. (MT).

Friday, April 1, will be a busy day for the Women of Utah as the Utes compete at four different meets throughout the day.
