Apr 12, 2022

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Tuesday turned into moving day for Arizona Men's Golf at the Western Intercollegiate as the team turned in a 13-stroke improvement from Monday's opening round to move up three spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 4th place at 49-over par. Graduate senior Christian Banke tied two other golfers for the second-lowest round of the day with a 1-under 69.

"We stayed true to our adjustments from Monday to execute our gameplan today," said head coach Jim Anderson. "Our group showed some maturity in our shot selection on difficult pin locations in our round and posted a quality effort for the day. If we continue to make adjustments and corrections to play smart golf, we will climb up the leaderboards once again."

Banke's second-round score of 69 was a 10-stroke improvement from his opening round. The California native carded a bogey-free back nine with a trio of birdies to climb into a tie for 18th. Junior Chase Sienkiewicz bolstered his top-10 position from Monday by shooting a 1-over round of 71, which moved him up into a tie for fourth place.

After an opening round of 75, freshman Johnny Walker shot a 74 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 24th place entering Wednesday's final round.

The third and final round of the 75th annual Western Intercollegiate will begin on Wednesday morning with Golf Channel coverage beginning at 1 p.m. (MST).
