Trio of Bruins Compete Across Pair of Venues

A trio of Bruins competed on Wednesday afternoon to open UCLA Track & Field's busy week of action. Isa Videler opened her heptathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. while Sydney Johnson (heptathlon) and Ronan McMahon-Staggs (3000m steeplechase) headed to Azusa, Calif. for the Bryan Clay Invitational.
 
Videler opened her day with the 100m hurdles, earning 890 points with a time of 14.64. She followed with a strong showing in the high jump, matching a lifetime-best clearance of 5-07.75 for 879 points. After going 10.69m (35-01.00) in the shot put (575 pts), she notched a time of 25.67 for 826 points in the 200m. Videler finished her day with 3170 points and will wrap up her heptathlon at Mt. SAC on Thursday.
 
Johnson posted a time of 14.35 in the 100m hurdles in Azusa, finishing 12th overall in the event and earning 929 points. She later finished eighth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.64m (5-04.50), good for 783 points in the event. Her best result of the day came in the 200m, where she crossed with a time of 25.19 for eighth place overall and 869 points. She currently holds 3095 points ahead of the final three events on Thursday.
 
McMahon-Staggs was the second Bruin to compete in Azusa, finishing ninth in his heat of the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:58.52.
 
The Bruins are set to continue their week of action on Thursday. Day two of the Mt. SAC Relays gets rolling at 11 a.m. PT and the second day of the Brian Clay Invite gets rolling for the Bruins with the men's 800m at 4:10 p.m. PT. A pair of UCLA discus throwers will also compete at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at 1:15 p.m. PT on Thursday.
