The Bears have added 6-foot guard Kemery Martín for the 2022-23 season.

BERKELEY – The Cal women's basketball team has added another standout player to its roster for the 2022-23 season with the addition of 6-foot guard Kemery Martín, a three-time letter winner from Utah.

"Kemery is a proven scorer in our conference," said head coach Charmin Smith. "She is a three-level scorer with great size and athleticism. She fits the needs of the program and has the determination and work ethic to help us accomplish our goals. She immediately gelled with the young women in the program and we are excited to have her."

While at Utah, Martín was known for her energetic and entertaining play. She played in 58 career games making 26 starts over three seasons for the Utes. Martín notched 17 games in double figures for Utah. For her career, she has scored 384 points, averaging 6.6 points per contest, while dishing out 1.2 assists per game.

As a sophomore, Martín had a breakout year, playing in 21 games with 17 starts. She scored 233 points averaging 11.1 points per game while shooting 33.0 percent from beyond the arc, grabbing 2.5 rebounds per game. She tallied 13 games in double figures that season – including 10 of the last 12 games for the Utes. For her efforts, she was named to the 2020-21 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention team.

As a freshman, she played in 31 games making nine starts. She finished in double figures four times – three against top-10 teams, including a season-high 15 points against Oregon and Stanford.

A native of Sandy, Utah, Martín graduated from Corner Canyon high school. The five-star recruit (according to ESPN.com) was a three-time all-region and All-USA Utah Girls Basketball Team selection. She scored 1,064 points in two seasons at Corner Canyon and averaged 21.7 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game as a senior.
