CU Women Capture Pair Of Wins In Fresno

Apr 30, 2022

FRESNO, Calif. – The University of Colorado track and field program picked up three wins and numerous NCAA Preliminaries-bound marks here Saturday at the Fresno State Invitational.

The women picked up a pair of wins from Madie Boreman and Abbey Glynn, while Eduardo Herrera led the men with a victory in the 1,500-meter run.

The 1,500 was the highlighted event for Colorado with Boreman winning the women's invitational section in 4:14.71. She edged out teammate Abby Nichols who finished second in 4:14.82. Rachel McArthur finished fifth in the race in 4:16.79, with all three women securing their spot at NCAA Preliminaries in the event. All three marks are top-18 in the NCAA West rankings, giving CU four women in the top-20.

Herrera gave the Buffs the sweep in the 1,500 invitational rounds with a win in the men's section in 3:39.58. The mark isn't better than his altitude converted mark of 3:39.11 which is still 12th in the west. Herrera is now NCAA-bound in the 1,500 and 5,000.

Another highlight was Abbey Glynn running under the 58-second barrier in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the meet in 57.97. Close behind was teammate Emma Pollak who finished third in 59.39. Both women are top-30 in the west thus far. They also were part of a pair of runner-up relays with the women's 4x100 finished second in 45.39 seconds, good for sixth in CU history. They closed the early part of the meet with a second place finish in the 4x4 where the team ran 3:37.75.

Defending mile national champion Micaela DeGenero added to her schedule at NCAA Preliminaries by running 2:04.91 in the women's 800-meter run to finish second. That mark will slide her into the top-15 in the west to go along with her top-20 mark in the 1,500.

The meet actually began Friday with the men and women's hammer throw where graduate student Dominique Williams broke the 64-meter mark again, this time with a toss of 64.31 meters (211-0). His throw is just three inches from the best that he put together at the Colorado Invitational and was good for second. He also became the second-farthest thrower ever in Fresno, breaking the previous stadium record along with Washington's Jayden White who won the event.

The Buffs had a pair of runner-up finishes with Noah Bouchard in the men's high jump finished second with a clearance of 2.09 meters (6-10.25) while Ryan Lindrud finished second in the 800 in 1:50.96.

The Buffaloes close out the regular season next week back in Colorado at the Air Force Twilight Friday May 6.
