Golden Bears Hand Out Team Awards

BERKELEY – Senior Isabel Ivey, who captured the Pac-12 200-yard freestyle title and posted a pair of top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships, was named Cal's Most Outstanding Swimmer for the second year in a row at the Golden Bears' end-of-year celebration Saturday.
 
Ivey finished second in the 200 free and third in the 200 individual medley at the NCAA Championships in March. In addition, she placed 13th in the 100 free and was a member of four relays, including the third-place 800 free relay.
 
At the Pac-12 meet, Ivey was second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 free, in addition to her 200 free victory. She completed the season ranked among Cal's all-time top 10 in five different events.
 
Other awards presented to the team were:

  • Most Improved Award – Mia Motekaitis
  • Golden Bear Award – Elise Garcia
  • Coach Wick Leadership Award – Ayla Spitz
  • Karen Moe Humphreys Coaches Award – Emma Davidson, Leah Polonsky, Isabelle Stadden
  • Warren Hellman Scholastic Award – Robin Neumann

Fourteen Golden Bears received their first-year awards and membership into the Big C Society: Stephanie Akakabota, Reed Broaders, Daniela Cogswell, Lizzy Cook, Fanni Fabian, Alicia Henry, Mélanie Julia, Mia Kragh, Ella Mazurek, Annika McEnroe, Mia Motekaitis, Leah Polonsky, McKenna Stone and Maddie Ward.
 
Ten Golden Bears were also recognized as CSCAA All-Americans for their performance at the NCAA Championships: Emma Davidson, Elise Garcia, Isabel Ivey, Rachel Klinker, Mia Kragh, Mia Motekaitis, Leah Polonsky, Eloise Riley, Ayla Spitz and Isabelle Stadden.
